Hockey holds a special place in the sporting legacy of Zahira College Matale. For several decades, the College has been recognized as a competitive force in school hockey, producing disciplined athletes and contributing talent to provincial and national-level tournaments. Through structured training, dedicated coaches and a strong culture of teamwork, Zahirians have carried the green jersey with pride and spirit.

Today, hockey continues to thrive at Zahira, with students competing across multiple age groups including Under-15, Under-17 and the Senior First XI. The sport remains one of the strongest platforms for student character development, teaching discipline, leadership, patience and sportsmanship—qualities that stay with our boys long after they step off the field.
